Radishes

Radishes

If you enjoy the hot peppery taste of radishes, you'll be happy to know that they are easy to grow, and they grow fast...producing a crop in only 3-4 weeks.

Radishes are a cool weather crop. The young leaves are edible, and the root is what adds that awesome zing, color and crunch to salads.

Grow your radishes in full sun to partial shade, in loose, well-drained soil. Plant seeds 1/2 inch deep, about 1/2 inch apart. Cover seeds with 1/2 inch of soil and water.

Thin your radishes when they are about 2 inches tall, leaving them spaced no closer together than 1 inch. When you see the radish bulb appear, you can harvest them. Because radishes grow quickly, you can plant another crop in the cooler temperatures of fall.
