Rated 1 out of 5 by from Did not grow Bought 2 bags last fall. Seeded in the fall and it did not grow. Tried again this spring after aeration and covered a couple bare spots with Scotts Lawn Soil and watered every morning and afternoon. After 3 weeks little if any had grown. Supposed to be 7-14 days. Will go back to Pennington this fall.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best color I started a new lawn with this seed last fall. Germination was superior. This spring I have the darkest prettiest grass of anyone. I love nice grass and would definitely recommend this grass seed for my area of the country!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Midwest Mix deserves more than five stars; superior quality product For northern/central Illinois, Scotts® Turf Builder® Grass Seed Midwest Mix is perfect. Actually, this product works well throughout southern Wisconsin to my knowledge. Having lived in both areas, with our degree of seasonal weather, the Midwest Mix is superior to anything else I've tried. Yet, many places in Indiana and Michigan may require a northeastern product due to the lake effect snow from Lake Michigan. Southern Illinois should use a Kentucky Mix. Otherwise, Scotts is ALWAYS the best buy!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good stand, didn't last I seeded last fall with the midwest blend on an area where i had taken out a thin sidewalk. Got this particular blend because it seemed hardier and would take a dryer climate better. The ground was properly prepped, mixture of topsoil and manure, and I got a great stand of grass in the spring. Unfortunately, by mid summer the area was a dirt patch again. Could have to do with accelerated drainage where the old sidewalk used to be, but I also worry about whether having had concrete there messed up the soil chemistry too much. However a few other patches I seeded with Midwest were largely overtaken by nutsedge it seems. I liked the initial performance but worry about the blend for the long haul.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not as good as past products Purchased the product thinking it would work better with living in Nebraska. It didn't seem to work as well as pasts products I have used. It seems that I had more weeds pop up with this product.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from grass didnt come up I worked my dirt with topsoil and peat moss then rolled it, and then seeded it, and worked it lightly into soil and rolled it, then put a thin layer of peat moss and watered it lightly. And carefully watered it 2x aday, in 4days it started poping up. When it got 3 to 4 inch , then I mowed it on my highest setting on the mower. Now half of it turned yellow and died. It looks awfull. So then I put more seed down, and it never spouted. What did I do wrong?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Absolutely the best for the Midwest!!!!!! I live in the Midwest, smacked right in the middle of ST. Louis County. We have mostly heavy clay soil here and lots of weather extremes. This is the best seed I have every grown in my life and I have been gardening for over 35 years here. It grows well here and once mature it grows slow which means I don't have to mow it as often as other grasses, about once every two weeks or so. We are in the middle of an extreme drought and the seed I planted this spring is still alive, green and doing well while everything else has died and turned brown.
