Rated 2 out of 5 by from Needs a trigger lock and it seems like it dispenses more There are some good things about this spreader. I like the bin design - it is easy to fill and it is easy to pour back excess material. The edge guard is clever. Now for the bad. The trigger is miserable to use. There is no trigger lock and after 3/4 of an acre spreading your right hand aches. The spring forces are high so it is really a pain to use for extended period. (I liked the old Easy Green 3000 solution far better) Compared to the Easy Green 3000 the DLX spreader is slinging far more material. Which one is correct? I'm not sure. Overall, I can't live with the trigger.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Does not hold up.....RUST! I've owned this spreader for 7 seasons. This year, the bracket connecting the hopper and the wheel rusted out at the wheel base. Got only 7 seasons! At 4 applications per season, that's only 28 uses. Plus, I only used Scott's products in the spreader. Hey Scott's, how about some replacement parts that can be ordered online?

Rated 1 out of 5 by from No manual and no spreading rate information anyplace. I don't want to throw my money away I spent on grass seed and fertilizer by using a "test it and see" method for application. This is what I was told to do. Products refer to Speedygreen and Easigreen settings. Why are these settings for Edgeguard a state secret? My bar code number is 032247762328 and the spreader tool says this is invalid, though I don't know why they would need that if you knew which model you had. Returning this for one that has more information on the spreader.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Big disappointment The edge guard was the second Scotts spreader I have purchased. The edge guard feature never did work very well. I always had to reach down & manually move it in and out of position. after only two seasons of light use, the pinion gear melted the housing just like in my first spreader. Very poor design.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from This product broke after spreading 40lbs of product. Lasted 30 minutes. Purchased Scotts Broadcast EdgeGuard DLX Spreader today and the plastic rotary broke completely off at the axle connection after only spreading 40 lbs of product. Very disappointing in the quality.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from This product broke the second time I used it I bought this product because of the name, and paid quite a bit more for it than the cheaper brands. I spread two bags of fertilizer, and the second time I tried to use it, the spreader mechanism broke lose from the hopper when it was only half full. It is not worth the price.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Poor wheel connection I consider myself an expert, having been in the professional green industry as a career for more than 30 years. While I use professional spreaders for my work, for my own lawn, I have used your Speedy Green 3000 for the last 16 years with great service, but today, when loading the hopper with 50 lbs of SCU fertilizer, the main structure support (metal) finally gave way due to years of corrosion and the hopper fell onto the wheel. I knew the spreader was on borrowed time and had been eyeing replacements for a couple of years. I performed last rites and moved on. Since I wanted to apply the fertilizer today before an expected rain, I went to the local home improvement big box store and purchased your Edgeguard DLX spreader and returned to complete the job. I was about half way through the application process and the left wheel fell off. I evaluated the problem, thinking a nut had backed off, allowing the wheel to fall off, but I realized that the wheels are only held in place by plastic tabs. I inserted the wheel in place and continued applying fertilizer. The wheel fell off two more times before finishing, once it pulled the impeller shaft out of the hopper, dislodging the agitator. I had to empty the hopper in order to reinstall the agitator and again pop the wheel back on. My lawn is virtually level and smooth, so there was no excessive roughness that would lead a well-built spreader to fail in that manner. After all, my old Speedy Green never did that. I will be returning this unit where I purchased it for a refund. I cannot see this design flaw being worth my time. I guess I will be looking to buy another brand, and I'll certainly be looking closer at the construction. I have to say I am disappointed in this product and I cannot recommend this to anyone. Other than the wheel problem, I would rate this spreader a 5.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Uneven spread and poor wheel design! I purchased this spreader for the edge guard feature and capacity. During the first row of the application I noticed that the left side spread more fertilizer than the right. I thought the edge guard was stuck so I looked underneath and saw the design of the mechanism allowed this to happen. This allowed for an uneven application. Then when I put the spreader away when I was done I noticed a lot of fertilizer accumulated inside the wheels. Very disappointed with this design and with Scotts for allowing this to happen.
