Rated 4 out of 5 by from Only wish it had closed wheels Great spreader! Fast application of Scott’s products. Easy to use. Only suggestion for improvement is to supply solid, closed wheels with this spreader. Product, especially smaller granules applied on a damp lawn, gets trapped in open wheels and has a tendency to fall out in clumps or is wasted during clean-up.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Does not cover uniformly I bought the medium sized edge guard spreader. I applied a typical commercial fall lawn fertilizer according to directions the second week of September. A few days later, I started to see brown streaks in my lawn. They were about six inches wide and were in a cross hatch pattern corresponding to the path I followed when I used the spreader. I understand that it is possible that I bought bad fertilizer, or that I applied too much, but I do not think so. In any case, the fact that the burning is restricted to a narrow swath, indicates that the spreader is not spreading the fertilizer uniformly. I returned the spreader immediately, so that it will not cause more damage to my lawn.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Left my lawn looking like a mess Bought this product after doing a lot of product research and from a professionals suggestion. We used it to spread crabgrass preventer At the beginning of the year. We did notice that we were still getting lots of crabgrass. Then we used it as a fertilizer a few months later and that’s when we saw that it wasn’t really spreading product like it should. It explains why we still had a lot of crab grass. somehow it drops fertilizer in narrow areas and leaves the other areas untouched. I went over my lawn twice in different directions and was left with think dark green stripes cross crossing every 6 feet or so. The rest of the lawn looked untouched by the fertilizer. I only had the edgeguard on while I was doing the outside edges of my yard. The interior I had it off. The edge guard doesn’t work very well. I can barely turn it where it needs to be anyway.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Small plastic parts break within two years. Paid far too much for this spreader. End of second year of use and the edgeguard cable broke. Then the impeller broke off from spreader wheel, making the spreader useless in the middle of fall lawn care. Shop around before you pay too much.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Uneven speading, leaves clumps and lines of fertilizer Especially poor with small granule material like Scotts Fall Weed and Feed, the spreader will leave clumps and lines of fertilizer product. For all product, small and larger granule, the spreader consistently throws more to the left than the right.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Bad design Horrible design used once and the agitator and the spinner underneath stripped so bad they fell off

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor wheel design It's fine for a small flat yard. Second time I used it the wheels fell off.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Hard on the hands with no lock on handle I have used Scotts products for years and lost my old spreader in a garage fire. I purchased a new Scotts replacement spreader. Things seemed fine looking at the box and was interested in the new Edgeguard so I could get close to the planters. My old spreader had a lock on the handle so when you were making long runs you didn't need to hold pressure on the handle to release the fertilizer. After using this new spreader without the lock I realized how important that was. By the time I'm done my hand is getting sore and I put off using the spreader knowing its not going to be easy to do the entire yard. I have over a 1/4 acre of lawn. I'd trade the edge guard for a lock any day
