Rated 1 out of 5 by from Bad design Horrible design used once and the agitator and the spinner underneath stripped so bad they fell off

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor wheel design It's fine for a small flat yard. Second time I used it the wheels fell off.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Hard on the hands with no lock on handle I have used Scotts products for years and lost my old spreader in a garage fire. I purchased a new Scotts replacement spreader. Things seemed fine looking at the box and was interested in the new Edgeguard so I could get close to the planters. My old spreader had a lock on the handle so when you were making long runs you didn't need to hold pressure on the handle to release the fertilizer. After using this new spreader without the lock I realized how important that was. By the time I'm done my hand is getting sore and I put off using the spreader knowing its not going to be easy to do the entire yard. I have over a 1/4 acre of lawn. I'd trade the edge guard for a lock any day

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Works great except ..... Spreader does a good job but is missing a feature found on other spreaders of this type - a way to lock the level open when using for extended periods of times. Finally resorted to using a tie wrap to lock the lever in the open position.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Works great, but not for long This spreader works well. It has issues with larger loads, so limit how much you put in it. The little plastic spinner in the bottom of the bin will strip out if you aren't careful with how much you load in it. I've added a few layers of tape to keep it going. Wish they sold replacement spinners, the rest of the spreader holds up fine.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Spreader leaves fertilizer lines and does not broadcst evenly. Leaves fertilizer lines. And does not work as effectively as other products. Previous Scott’s spreaders broadcast more evenly.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very Useful for Value Unless you are a lawncare professional, this spreader fits the bill for the four or five times you need during the year. Hose clean after use and will provide years of faithful service. Only gripe is that the wheels are open to which accumulates a lot of product by the time your are done an article plication. Handle is short for anyone over 5'10" which puts a mild strain on the back and shoulders.. of course Scotts website posts the writting guidelines immediately on top of the review box so I can't see to correct the typos in the above review.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Uneven spreading/Lawn striping no matter what I've gained appreciation for several of Scotts products, but this one needs to be seriously pulled back and redesigned. I purchased the spreader last Summer. I had some pretty ugly looking narrow streaks of dark green with surrounding wide swaths of lighter green. I assumed it was user error (me). I did plenty of research and did everything I could possibly do to prepare myself to get it right the next time. I tried it a few months later, measuring spread on pavement to determine exact width, and carefully spreading on lawn using the correct width in between passes at the walking speed (i.e. dog walking) indicated on instructions. SAME RESULT. I recently used it again this Spring and SAME RESULT. Unsightly streaks everywhere. Upon reading other reviews here I learned it's not just me, but appears to be a common issue with this model.
