Does the jobBefore putting in service i had to make some adjustments to make it escape proof. Common adjustment needed for this type of latch. I had to bend the locking loop such that its top would sit closer to top of cage, in the latch. When a trapped animal reaches around the door and pulls in on the locking loop you want to be sure it wont slide out of the latch on top. I typically find the latch and loop need some adjusting to ensure the locking loop can not slip out of the latch when pulled.
Caught three opossums in first three days (they are easy). First Raccoon escaped by reaching around door and bending the locking loop just above the metal stiffener plate. He bent it at about a 30 degree angle until it popped out of the latch (seriously determined raccoon). I considered strengthening the loop with wood stiffeners, but did not. I caught the very feisty raccoon two days later. I put a bunch of stiff cardboard and wood pieces halfway through the cage mesh in random spots. Raccoon shredded up all the cardboard and wood rather than the cage this time. He just needed something to let his frustrations out on.
